With news that Roy Keane has walked out of his contract with ITV to be pundit during the World Cup, speculation is mounting that he has accepted the job to be Paul Lamberts assistant at Villa.

Keane maintains that he didn't want to be pundit for the rest d his life, and that he wants to concentrate on the game more, than just talk about it, having an interest in the Irish squad would leave him plenty of time to devote to Villa.

Known for his abrasive style, he could be thought as the Jekyll to Lamberts Hyde, and Lambert may be thinking that Keane is the kick up the backside that the Villa sqaud need.

The Independent is known as one of Britain's better newspapers, and with that comes a bit of responsibility to print the facts, you would therefore expect their media editor, Ian Burrel, to check things out with the sports department, or even to take a glance at Wikipedia before he puts together a report about Roy Keane walking out on the ITV pundit club for the World Cup.

Roy as Mr Bullard points out, has walked out on a World Cup before, even though the last time it was as a player, not a pundit, and he had footballing matters to consider.

Mr Bullard states :

Keane has a fearsome reputation. He ended Alf-Inge Haland’s career with a knee-high tackle and slated the corporate fans at Old Trafford as “the prawn sandwich brigade”.

Now any decent football fan will know that this is a complete and utter myth, spread by none other than the media, yes it was a dirty tackle, and yes it did hurt, but the truth remains that Haland played for City only a week later, and had played for Norway in the midweek, after leaving City went on to play for quite a few more seasons, so it was hardly a "career ending" tackle, if you don't believe me perhaps this account form Wiki, may convince you :

In April 2001, Keane fouled Håland on his right knee, for which he was sent off.

At the time of Keane's tackle, Håland's left knee was giving him sufficient problems for him to have to play with strapping around it, After the tackle, Håland finished the match and played a midweek friendly for Norway coming off at half-time,and the next league game, coming off in the 68th minute. That summer, he underwent surgery on his left knee, but only managed a further 4 substitute appearances the following seasonand finally retired in July 2003 after failing to recover full fitness. Håland was originally contracted with Manchester City until the end of the 2004–05 season, but in his contract it was stated that City could terminate the contract if medical conditions indicates that he couldn't play first-team football again, and decided to use this option.

The point of the matter is, if the newspapers cannot get simple facts like this right, what else are they failing to report properly.

When you don't win anything, it's always good to find something in a season to cheer about, and West Ham are no exception, willing to celebrate anything, and make a few quid at the same time the club shop is selling "Treble" T shirts at the amazing price of 2 for £20, which is a bit of a bargain when one will still cost you £20.

So what "treble" is this shirt celebrating, well the fact that they beat Spurs three times in the 2013-14 season seems as good a reason as any.

This is not the first time that West Ham have done the treble over Spurs, as the shirt also points out.
Roy Hodgson it would appear have stolen Liverpools thunder by telling worlds press that the impending £4m transfer of Ricky Lambert is a done deal, while the player himself is a little more quiet on the deal.

Why Liverpool want a 32yr old player, even as squad player is beyond belief, unless they are not too confident of holding on to Louis Suarez if Real or Barca come calling with a blank cheque, if that situation does arise then it may be astute move to provide an on the bench back up to Messrs Sturridge and Sterling.

As a United supporter of over 40yrs standing, I was never a fan of the Moyes appointment, and even when Fergie stood on the pitch at Old Trafford and said, "Now is the time for you to get behind our new manager", it sounded to me more like a plea, than a statement, this was a man who had won nothing but a few "Manager Of The Month" awards, and one "Manager of the Season", for getting Everton into fifth place, to me if that's your greatest achievement in eleven seasons at a club, you are just not good enough for United.

One other thing that didn't endear him to myself and other United fans I know, was an off the cuff comment he made about the squad, "This squad is good enough to win the European Champions League", that is some message to give a squad of players who had just won the premiership, and an ever bigger statement when you yourself had won nothing, not even a tea cup, in your period as a manager at any club.

So it's fair to say that he didn't get off on the right foot with me.

Then as the months went by and United started to crumble, the truth came out, from no better sources than the previous coaching team, how Ferguson had assured them their jobs were safe, only for Moyes to walk in, and offer them junior roles, to who many saw, as inferior coaches, with emphasis on fitness rather than technical work, as Moyes training regimes got to work, the results got worse, and the wall around fortress Old Trafford was starting to be breached, records were tumbling, teams were beating us at home for the first time in decades, the football was non-existent, the team looked worn out by the start of the second half, players out of position, and even being asked if they "could do the full ninety" thats not management, that's stumbling from crisis to crisis.

As fans we kept hearing the same excuses, yet he played 53 different line ups, in his time in charge, that worked out at a different line up for every game, the addition of Fellaine for £27.5m was like throwing money on a fire, so in the January window, he buys Juan Mata, a great little player, creative, can run with the ball, loves the centre of the pitch, so where does he play him ? on the right wing ! we as United fans were baffled.

So now we come to Moyes latest quotes:

“When I succeeded him he advised me of some changes that had to be made. I took his advice on board and started to implement the changes and modernise certain aspects.
“I also became aware of other changes that were necessary and put plans in place. It was never going to all come together in a few weeks or months. It was unfortunate I wasn’t given more time to succeed.”

He also gave Moyes some idea's of what shouldn't be changed but Moyes decided to ignore that, yes there were changes that needed to put into place, players that needed to be bought, but between you and Mr Woodward you failed on that account as well, refusing to pay the VAT of £4m on one player, yet paying £4m more than you should of for another, that doesn't make sense.

I don't blame Moyes totally for his failure, Woodward has to take some of the blame, and probably the owners do too, for not realising the scale of the problem, and the fact that Ferguson had made the job look so easy for so long, after all Fergie seemed to be able to pick any eleven from a squad and hey presto it worked, but the man also had the ability to motivate, something I think Moyes lacked.

Moyes says in his latest interview that being at United taught him some invaluable lessons, and that he is sure that he will benefit from it in the long run, adding that he feels that he is much more knowledgeable and better coach because of it.

He also says that he has been tempted by one or two offers, but

“However I may still choose to have a break and enjoy watching and observing football throughout the world,”

So that's so offers then David ?

Pele who is on Brazils organising committee for the World Cup has given an open and frank interview with the German Sport Bild magazine, and also comments on the worries he as concerning events outside the control of the organising committee.

To date there are three stadiums left unfinished, all three still have to go through least minute preparations and to be tested by holding games, it seems likely that they may miss this crucial stage to see it the infrastructure can cope with the number of fans expected. "The situation worries me. There has been sufficient time to bring the stadiums to completion. It's unacceptable. It is a disgrace." The political situation is also difficult, the protests are not good for the competition, I know that 25% of foreign visitors have cancelled trips to see my country and the World Cup, the time to protest was when the bidding took place not now"

"I know what the people are saying, but the violence at the construction sites is not acceptable, protesting is, but not not violence" he added speaking of the alleged corruption, "I blame the evil people who have stolen all the money"

"People should not blame the national team, they have nothing to do with the corruption that has delayed the construction of the stadiums"
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For weaves together two of Frank Miller’s classic stories with new tales in which the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants. In Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film Frank Miller’s Sin City) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.
Arsenal have confirmed that Arsene Wenger has signed a new deal to stay as head Coach for another three years.

Wenger became the longest serving coach with the same team in the Premiership when Sir Alex Ferguson retired, and there have been rumours all season that the time had come for him to move upstairs or move on, but that was before he took Arsenal to Wembley to win their first trophy in nine seasons.

There was even a Twitter campaign by former Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan for him to be promoted upstairs and a new younger manager to take over, it seem snow that Morgan will have to admit defeat on that one.
